00:00:20on? Miles from your nice it just. Keeps going. Hey guys, it's Tim and welcome to the Dreaming of Disney podcast episode 137. I'm with my beautiful wife, Audrey Anne. Hello. Hey, Howdy. Hey. Hey, howdy. Hey, there's a. Snake in my mind. Me, I'm on a yo-yo. That's what he says. Hey, howdy. Hey, that's me. I'm on a yo-yo. And there's a snake in my boot. If you didn't guess, we are talking about Toy Story 5 tonight. And hello, welcome.

00:01:00It's been a minute. And if you're joining us, those who are joining us live on TikTok, on the TikTok on the TT. And then for those who are on watching us on TikTok, you can listen to this later wherever you stream podcasts where we'll be there for you like a friend because you've got a friend and us. Oh oh goodness, that was the worst. OK, but. No, it wasn't that bad, but I just, I want to say, if you don't, if you haven't seen Toy Story 5 and you don't want to know anything, then don't listen. Yeah. Don't listen, come back, come back when you've seen it. I don't, I don't think there's

00:01:48any like huge spoilers because one, we're not doing like a play by play of scenes or anything or like I don't think, right, that's not the plan, right, That's not the plan, but we are going to be talking about it and and but it's I I don't feel like there was anything huge that like wasn't in the trailer, you know, there wasn't like, Oh my gosh there. Wasn't like a big twist or anything. But at the same time, I am someone who doesn't want to know anything, so I want to say that I did see. I, I did see interview with Tim Allen on Instagram or IG earlier this week where he totally spoiled it. He, he talks about, you know, the, the change in Lily, why,

00:02:43why she decided to go and help Bonnie. And so I saw that. I was like, oh, I wish you didn't say that. It didn't spoil a whole movie, but I figured there was going to be a turning point. Right. I mean, it's not like it's AM Night Shyamalan movie or anything. Like yeah. That's true. That's true. What? I see toys you. Seen the Oh my gosh. I see toys. That was gonna say something about the village. Oh, we should. Watch. We should watch.

00:03:16The village. Oh, that movie's so good. Anyways. Should this turn into like a In Night Shyamalan podcast where we just. I just remember the last one when we were so excited. What was the one that came out? We saw it in the theaters. This before we were married. Or maybe we were married. Was it the the girl in the water? Yes. And it was not. Yeah. OK, he went downhill after the village. He did after the village OK Danny on on TikTok says. I feel like they came for parents. I felt convicted.

00:03:44Oh, for sure. Like, well, OK, so if you don't know the, the premise of Toy Story 5 is technology coming in and kids not playing with toys anymore because everyone's on a screen. And it did, it hit like it was just like, oh, they're, they're showing, you know, just looking out at a neighborhood and you can see in all of these different homes windows and like everyone in every room, the parents and the kids are all on screens. And it, it did. It was just like, oh, but going, going back a little bit, I was not happy at a Toy Story 5. I was like no Toy Story 4 had funny parts but I thought the ending of Toy Story 3 was the perfect and well maybe not

00:04:32perfect like it ended well. Toy Story 3 I did want Andy to come back as an adult with his own child or maybe his wife is pregnant and he's looking for his toys and now Bonnie is in high school so she can be like here you can have them back. That is what I want to happen at some point. I did say the only way I would be OK with a Toy Story 4 is if Bo and Woody were reunited and they were, but I didn't like that Woody left the group. I didn't like that I also Woody is my favorite and so this movie is much more Jessie focused and she's probably my least favorite. I'm not a huge Jessie fan. I always found her a little annoying, but that's OK. That's OK.

00:05:28OK. So overall, we haven't, we haven't talked at all. We haven't talked about this. So what did you think? I loved it. I thought it was way better than Toy Story 4. I think they took the criticism of Toy Story 4 and and then they they they improved upon it. It just Toy Story 4 just felt the story you just wasn't needed. I think it just. Except, I mean, reunite Woody and Bo. Like, I'm glad that they were reunited, but yeah, yeah. Yeah, I did get a little teary eyed a few times. I know you. No, I did too. I did too.

00:06:16Is is a little annoying at some, you know, just her character, just a little over the top, but it's. Really, in Toy Story 3, Toy Story 3 is when she bothers me the most because she's just like, so like Woody, Woody, Woody. And Buzz is like falling in love with Jessie and she's just like Woody, Woody. Like Toy Story 2, I don't mind Jessie. Like, and her story is sad. And the song, the Sarah McLachlan song, Oh my gosh, you know. I think that's that's where I was. It was much more sentimental because we're tying in the Toy Story 2, which I think Toy Story 2 is probably the best of all.

00:06:46The toy Stories. I think so too. I think Toy Story 2 is my favorite. Which is interesting because, you know, if you guys don't know, Toy Story 2 was originally going to be straight the video. Yeah. It was going to be a straight the video release and then they decide at the last minute to send it to theaters after it was almost it was accidentally. Deleted deleted. Yeah, that's a crazy story, but I love Toy Story too. But. Yeah, no, I, I really enjoyed it. I I thought all the poop joint jokes were funny. Took me a minute to get what that toy was.

00:07:20I know at first I was like, oh, he's a roll of toilet paper. Oh, yeah. Oh, I didn't get that. I just mean that he was a he was, it was like a electronic toy to like encourage toddlers to for potty training. Yeah, but if you look at he's a, he's a toilet paper roll. Oh, OK. But then, yeah, all, all the poop jokes, Yeah, it's pretty funny. Yeah, They, they called it like they they actually call him like Doctor Shat. Did you hear that part? See, I didn't know. I didn't. It was. Really quick. I didn't get. That it was really quick.

00:07:53I thought I was like, Oh my gosh, Sir, there, there was a toe on the line here. Yeah, there was a couple, yeah, but yeah, no, I, I did like it. I did really like it. I liked it better than four, definitely, But it didn't have enough Woody for me like I, I do. I love Woody. I love Woody and Andy. And like what you told me after when we were walking to the car, you're like, Oh, yeah, they've already said there's going to be a six. And it's going to be like the first three are like the first trilogy of Andy's story and then the second are going to be like Bonnie's story. And I'm like, OK, that that makes it a little better in my

00:08:29opinion. But still, I'm just kind of like, you got to be careful because like 2, like some of the original, like the the toys that were big in the first three have very little parts because the voice actors have died like Don Rickles. Yeah, right. That was Potato Head, right. Like, and so Potato Head only had a few lines and it didn't sound the same. You know it doesn't. It's not like. They did. They did. They did pretty good with Slinky Dog. It was the Arnold guy, right? He only had a a few lines. Also, combat Carl 'cause he was in the he was in the Playhouse.

00:09:14Yeah, at Blaze's house. Yeah, that actor died. What's a combat Carl? He Arrested Development. What's his name? The the dad? No, the the one that Tobias goes to do the acting classes. Oh, Carl Weathers. Carl Weathers, Carl Weathers played Combat Carl, and so obviously they had to get a new, new actor for that. Yeah, yeah. It's combat, Carl. Let's go. Yeah. It's I looked at it. It's it's, I think it was Charles Minor. That's not his real name, but. Idris Elba. Yes, but Idris. Idris, Idris I.

00:10:01Don't know, I don't know, don't ask me, but OK. So my mind went blank. For those listening on TikTok watching on TikTok, you're enjoying the original Toy Story soundtrack right now. Hope you're. Doing. This nostalgia. OK so someone on TikTok says why give woody a dad bought it makes no sense. Toys get saggy. They do. I mean the stretch. Out. You know, like they. Yeah, sometimes the fluff, it clumps together and just kind of drifts down. Yeah, I thought the part I mean that was on the previews, you know where he like is balding,

00:10:41which I thought was, I thought that was funny because toys. Old Woody. All the old jokes were funny. Well, why you guys? We're all old. Tom Hanks is one of my favorite people. Do I know him personally? No, but he is definitely my favorite actor. But like he's, he's old. He's getting old. That's one thing I noticed with this it a lot of the voice actors, you could tell their age. Yeah. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack. She sound really. Old she sounded older. So that's another thing with them, like you need to stop, you

00:11:18need to stop going with this because there's no way those could be replaced. And so like just. Did you know, did you know like when they do like Toy Story commercials or anything that's not a movie and besides some of this, the half hour specials that they do. That they use his brother. They use his brother Tom Hanks brother to voice Woody. You know they use he. He was used in some of the running scenes in Forrest Gump as well. Oh, really? Yeah. That Hanks jeans man man, it's strong. I mean like Tom Hanks brother, his son. What's his son's name?

00:11:54Colin. Colin Hanks. He looks like a young. Tom Hanks in college. Anyone ever seen Orange County with Colin Hanks and Jack Black? That's a good one. It's been a while since That's a early 2000s treasure right there. If you are a millennial, specifically elder millennial. Mr. Sprinkles. Yes, Orange County. I didn't go to college. Check me out my best friend. We're talking Toy Story 5 for all those who have joined. Bang Street News, but was something that was kind of cool that I told you the other day. It's like, OK, so I saw toys. I've seen all the Toy Stories in the theaters.

00:12:35So I saw the first Toy Story, you know, when I was 9. Not much. Michelle, we are just kind of getting into it. We're getting into the we saw Toy Story 5 this afternoon. So we are we are not recapping, we are saying our opinion. So there may be some spoilers if you don't want to hear. But so it's like, you know, I saw Toy Story, then I took my niece to, when she was like a toddler, Toy Story to, I was pregnant with our oldest. When Toy Story 3 came out, we took all of our boys to see Toy Story 4. And now we have all of our kids, all four of our kids and we took them to see Toy Story 5 in the theater. So it's pretty cool to like. 31

00:13:14years. Later that like we saw as children, you know, this movie in the theater and then like taking our kids to see the same franchise. And the fact that like, I'm not saying that it's as good as the first Toy Story 'cause you can't, I feel like you just don't compare to the first Toy Story because it's the original, right? But that it still holds up is pretty cool for sure. You know, and we're laughing and like, is that a year's? Yeah, so there's this, there's this thing going around on social about where you put your, the, the age for each Toy Story that came out. So since we're like the same age, it kind of fits for both of

00:13:52us, so. OK so you found a post last night that a guy said like I can't remember his wording but just that he was in the movie that was talking about how technology has taken over kids and their childhood. Within the 1st 2 minutes of the movie, a family in front of him, their two year old, started crying. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. 2 year old started crying, they handed her an iPad to play games. Well, it wasn't, it wasn't just games, it was YouTube brain rot videos. So that's like just brain rot is just like random stuff. See, you got to. You got to. You get so distracted so easily.

00:14:39I'm reading the chat. I don't read the chat, I ignore the chat. I. Don't ignore people. I know. But anyways, yeah, so there was a post, it was, it was on threads. So it's like in I GS version of Twitter. And it was someone who said they went to go see Toy Story and Toy Story 5 and within like the first 5 minutes, their toddler started crying. And so the parents gave them an iPad with YouTube on it and just let them watch. While they're there, they'll watch Toy Story. Which like they had to have at some point in the movie. I mean, it, it comes on, it

00:15:21comes up in the 1st 2 minutes of the movie, the technology and if you didn't know what it was about with the previews. But anyways, so they had like, what did they do as the movie went on? Yeah, I know. Like where they just. Like, Oh my gosh, what are we doing right? Now, because it did it, it was and and and OK, well, I don't know. Compared to some, I would say we've, I mean, everyone is different, but like compared to some, we are more strict as far as that goes. Compared to a lot of our kids friends, we are definitely more strict as far as devices and the time that they're on them and when they get a device and all

00:16:06of that. But still, even like, man, I was thinking the other day I cleaned our daughter's room up. And so we're cleaning it up and then, you know, when it's clean and they're like, oh, I want to play in it because it's nice and clean. When it's messy, they don't want to be in there. And so then we clean it and she's just like. And she asked me can I play in my toy box? And I was like, yes, you. Can I was like, as long as you pick it up and clean it up when you're done, 'cause we just cleaned like, yes, you can. And I'm like, when did she just play in her room? Yeah. Like I.

00:16:41Know rarely and I'm like all right that's it you're playing in your room or I'm just going to take the toy box out and throw it away yeah but I wouldn't do. That so so going back to the movie, those 3 girls from Bonnie's dance class, I wanted to punch them in the face, man. They were little butts, you know, It was like, like, oh, you brought toys. Who plays with toys anymore? Yes, and there and she's supposed to be 8. I think they said 8, right? Yeah, it was eight. Yeah, she's. Supposed to be 8 and this whole thing is this tablet is is is Bonnie doesn't have friends and the tablet is like, oh, I'll make her friends I'll get her

00:17:23connections because they can make they can connect on this game they're playing you know and and the whole thing is you know the toys are like those aren't real friends and yeah and when they do get together, they're on their tablets. They're not looking at each other. They're not playing with toys. They're all playing a game on their tablet. And it's nice, babe, nice, nice musical touch. And yeah, the fact that, and I'm sure that happens at only 8 years old, it's like you still play with toys because they're making fun of her because she still has toys. Like, yeah. And then like later, the, you know, the, the toys are able to

00:18:16connect to like the, the network that the, the Lily pad, which is the, the iPad is able to communicate. And they were able to like take a picture of Jesse and, and, and Bullseye 'cause they got lost in the movie to try to get them back to Bonnie's house. And so they share it to like all the contacts and and then so Bonnie's friends quote UN quote friends like, why did you send this to us? You still play with toys. Oh, you're a little baby. Oh, you missed your toys. I was like, oh, man, I'm going to slap those little kids. Yeah. I well, I'm not going to, I'm not going to out someone in our family, but I mean, I've got stuffed animals back here.

00:19:12I still have stuffed animals that I had when I was a kid that my kids are not allowed to play with because I'm like, no, those are special. You don't play with us. They, I mean, I play, I don't play with them, but like, you're not allowed to mess those up. They're mine. But like, yeah, it, it, it made me so sad because I mean, that's the whole point now. It's like kids having to grow up sooner and it's not cool to have toys because we still all had toys when I was in with eight, when I was 8 years old, nine years old, ten years old. And so now it's like if kids are made fun of, if they're doing that kind of thing at that age. I know we talked about this kind of a side point, but we talked

00:20:00about when just a few years ago boys were a little younger. Huge Lego fans in. Mr. Sprinkles here on on TikTok is talking about how he likes to still play with his toys and gives them. Voices and voices. And apparently one of them has a voice like me, which why not? Did you name? Him, Tim, Little Timmy, Little Timmy. I hope he's a power. Ranger cause Tim loved. Power. Rangers. I had all the Power Ranger toys, I had all the action figures, I had all the the Power Ranger. He still does. I forgot what they called like they're they're they're Transformer type things.

00:20:52They weren't Transformers, but they were like Transformers. Yeah, he still. Actually has them. I still have them in a. In a bin in the garage. And the boys like playing with them. Yeah, and then I get irritated 'cause then they're everywhere. I watched Power Rangers for a bit like the the original cause of course I wanted to be the pink Power Ranger. Actually, I think I wanted to be the yellow Power Ranger. I don't know. But anyways, but so before we moved into the house we're in, we were in a very, very small house for six people and our boys have bins and bins of Lego and it would be so stinking loud the digging, the.

00:21:31Digging. Through the Lego and it would drive us crazy. So I don't know, month or so ago, I'm downstairs, my oldest is in his room and I can hear it and I can hear the digging. And I was like, because I haven't heard that in so long. And I was like, Oh, he's building with Lego and I was so happy. And then just the last few days too, they've been, they've been doing some stuff with Lego and, and I'm like, they're like, and it makes, and I remember saying that in our last has been like, I'm sure I will miss this someday, but right now the noise is driving me nuts. But it just made me think of that because, like, they're not doing anything on a tablet.

00:22:19They're not asking to do anything on a tablet. They are doing something creative. And yeah, so I'm like, yeah, you guys remember your Lego, remember. So going back to the movie, no, I want. To talk about Lego. The very, the first scene is you see all these Buzz Lightyears like stranded on this beach. So it's like, it's like a shipping container shipwrecked. And you see all these it's, it's on, it's on their boxes. And you like new high tech version of Buzz Lightyear. And they all start like waking up and they, they, they want to get the star command. And so they start like exploring.

00:23:09They, they come to find out that they're on an island, like a, like a small island and they can't get off. And then they get all depressed and then so they they, they look up into the sky and see a star and they start like learning how to talk. They're like star command, star command, Star command. And so they, they build a like a raft and then they start looking for star command. At the end of the movie you come to find out that they have a QQR code on the back of them and the Lily pad who is now turned good. Spoiler. Spoiler finds out that you can scan this QR code and update their software and they turn into drones so they. Can actually, so they can.

00:23:52Actually fly, it's an actual flying toy now. So like the Toy Story 1, the whole like the commercial, not a flying toy, and now they are actually a flying toy. You are very excited. Very excited right now. I I. Loved it, I thought it was so awesome and you're a drone. Pilot and I fly. Drones for work but. Yeah, no, I thought that was really funny, but what I liked. About that was that it was showing that there's a place for technology that. Yeah. That's what I was place it. For technology with toys where you can still use your imagination and still have technology that's not mind

00:24:35numbing like a iPad or a phone or video games or whatever, things like that. It was. It was. Very balanced because they even showed a character playing mixing like they were mixing some technology toys with regular stuffed animals. Yeah, and it was, it was very balanced because I mean, we can't get rid of it, right. Like you can't get rid of technology. And as I mean, although you told me a few weeks ago, maybe a month ago about what's his name, the director, is it Chris Nolan? Christopher Nolan. Christopher Nolan. Who does not? So he's done what he did the Batman, and he's done.

00:25:26Batman interstellar inception he doesn't have. A smartphone. He has a flip phone. He doesn't do e-mail. We got an enigma in our midst. Oh, man, He doesn't do e-mail. He still does like so when he's making a movie, he has people fax him. He doesn't have a smartphone. He has a flip phone, people. E-mail People send him emails in the mail, like snail mail. They'll print out their e-mail and send it to him in the mail. So. You can do it. Is it convenient? No. Yeah. But. But I'm. But the point that I was making

00:26:05was just like you, you can, you can try to limit it, but it would be very, very hard to completely rid it in your house, right? Like even if you're trying, schools make it almost impossible. If your kids in public school, it's like you need that. I remember when our oldest was in 8th grade. And I thank you for the community Heart times 100 this. This is. These are this is some some campaign going on. Oh man. Thank you. Thank you Enigma for the one. 100 community hearts. I don't know what this is, but thank you it's. It's we're we're.

00:26:43We're out of, we're out of the loot. I I haven't been. Live in a while, so but it's Stephanie told me the other day that it's a it's a, it's a thingy. It's a. Community, I'm not part of a of an agency anymore, so I don't know what is it. Where did I not we were talking about. Technology. Thank you for the Galaxy Enigma. Do I know you? Or do I not know you? You too. Have a good night, Enigma. Thank you. You have a great. Night. OK, well, thanks for sharing the love.

00:27:28Have a great night. So you can't get rid of technology completely. Oh, I was saying a story. I was telling a story about when I was having a meeting with our our son's teacher. And I was like, OK, so where do you put the daily things that are dude. And she's like, Oh, yeah, you know, up here. And I was like, OK, so I'll have him write it down. And she's like, well, I just tell the kids to take a picture with their phone. And I was like, well, that'd be hard for the rest of our kids because, no, they don't have phones, you know, so it's like teachers just assume too. And I'm not saying all. I can't say a blanket statement.

00:28:05I don't know every single teacher out there, but I'm just saying it's it's hard for kids when they don't have these things because the majority do. And so things are built around it. And like, even even education, if you take it back a certain amount of years when I was in high school, there was computers. Like I didn't have a computer. And there were things that I got a bad grade on because I couldn't print them out at home. And it was not fair. And so my mom had to go into debt to buy a computer. But like, you know. So it's it's always been there. But not always but but I, I did appreciate how they showed balance.

00:28:46It wasn't like it's all bad because we can't even if you feel it's all bad, it like to get rid of it would be very, very difficult. So like just showing the balance. I thought was was nice that it it was like you said, showing how you can add in some technology into your creative play, But it's not easy. I mean, because it's addicting. And I really like that they made I like that they made we should get our seriously. Sorry, I was getting distracted again, but just thinking of pictures and our kids like taking pictures with our phones. And then what would they do with a with a disposable camera? Oh yeah? Well.

00:29:43They did. We had, we had that Polaroid Instax camera. They did take some pictures. No, no, no, not a. Polaroid one, because that one comes out right away. I mean like a disposable camera where like you don't get the pictures for a while, you don't get the pictures for a while. Like where do you even take? Can't you even take those anywhere to get developed? Like you would go to like a, you would go to like long CVS or well, CVS didn't exist by long it was. Long it was long, long longs drugs. My first like real job was at Longs Drugs Walgreens. Still does what they say. Walgreens is good to know.

00:30:21Getting back a whole. Role and being like none of these no, it's so bad. But I liked how they continued to have Star Wars Easter eggs. Don't spoil those. Don't. Spoil it. No. OK, spoil. Those, there were some, there were some good Star Wars and it wasn't like. Totally obvious, but it was like, if you know Star Wars, if you know Star Wars, you're like. It was good. It was good. It was a nice little Easter egg that now I can't. Remember what it was, but I remember I knew it at the time, but now I can't remember what it was.

00:30:55But but thrifty. Ice cream. Thrifty. That's a. Throwback Rite Aid, which doesn't exist anymore. All of them. Closed. All of them closed. Oh, really? I thought. It was just the one in the town nearest. Nope. Rite Aid. All of them. Closed. Rite Aid Closed. Yeah, thrifty. Ice cream. OK, that's rough. I'm sorry. You can. You can turn him.

00:31:20You can make him a Disney fan. You can. Your husband's not. A Disney fan I, I, you. Can do it. You can do it. It's not for. Everybody. It's not, and that's OK. That is OK, but I also feel like over time you can convert him. But I was just it made me think too because I have been taking a break. So I used to be. If you're you've never listened to the podcast or if you're some heavy editing. On this episode, I'm sorry. My love, if you've no, I don't want to do that. If you've never if you're in our TikTok, I nice welcome in. They are new.

00:32:04I was live almost every day. There was a while where it was just like starting out like five days a week. Then there was a good several months where I was live every day, several days, twice a day and then it was like 5 days a week. And then a little over a month ago, I decided to stop and take a break. And the first week that I stopped going live on here, I was still live on another account. I have on here a TikTok shop account. But then there were two full weeks where I was look good old days where I was not on one full week. And the second week it was like a couple of times just to check

00:32:50one thing. I was not on social media at all. And there was one week where I wasn't even, I barely checked my e-mail, like I was not on any social media. I only checked my e-mail so that I didn't have hundreds and hundreds to delete. When I came back, I was I didn't play any games on my phone. I was not on my phone. I wasn't watching TVI was doing other things. I was studying. It was incredible. Yeah, it was. Incredible. Like I was so much more focused. At the end of that week. I was done with the classes I was taking and I was just playing a game with the kids and

00:33:35I was not tempted to grab my phone. I was so much more present with them. I was so much less stressed. Like it was incredible. And so in the last three weeks, I have had a very hard time coming back to it because I'm like, that was so great. But I'm also doing things that help us financially. I have done things that are a job on that deal with social media. So I have to get back into it to a degree, but finding that balance, because as I'm watching Toy Story 5, I'm just like everyone, throw it out, throw it in the trash. It's amazing. Just do it because it's really, really hard to be balanced.

00:34:29And just, I missed you guys too. I miss the people. I miss the people, all right? Going back to Toy Story, this is about toy. Story. Oh, OK. Are you done? I'm just I was saying I was tying it into the movie because OK puzzle piece. Just if it's hard for adults to be balanced, how much more so for kids And just like showing them so zoned out. And it was just recently taking just a little step back. I mean, it wasn't even that long years ago. I took like a seven month break from social media. I meant to only get off for a month and then I just good night.

00:35:20All. Right, see you later or you know, talk to you later. See you around. But I was saying, oh, just a little step back. But in it just made me think of Toy Story 5 because it's the the issues that it brought that the whole movie is bringing up and technology with our kids, but it affects us too. And just like how much better I felt. And. Yeah, yeah. OK. What do you want to say about the actual? I'm talking about the morals of the movie, The feelings and the lessons learned you just want to talk about. The Star Wars references.

00:36:04No, I mean. You were, you were, you were making your way. You were talking a lot about TikTok and so I thought you were going off a tangent there, but you brought it back. I brought it back. What? Was what was your favorite part? Of the movie, OK, this wasn't my favorite part, but real quick I was going to say it earlier in the movie, they have animal like a they have a horse. Oh yeah, it was incredible. I know I was like is. That. A real the the. Animation. It was incredible. It's like. I mean, every every Toy Story and every Pixar has always

00:36:45increased in the quality. Yeah. But this one was like on a whole other level. Like if you look at. Buster from Toy Story 2, then this horse. It was like it. Was this horse looked incredible like it looked real to like? To now like, yeah it yeah, but I'm not. I'm not that I we're go. Ahead I need to think if. You know your favorite part? Go ahead. I loved. How? I mean, this is a big spoiler. Big spoiler. Big spoiler I loved. How this the majority of this movie took place at the house that Jesse originally came from

00:37:21'cause if you go back to Toy Story 2 and all the scenes of Jesse with her, with her original owner, her original kid along the tire, tire swing and the how and the the the tree, it all takes place there. Which comes to find out is that this this farmhouse outside the city which I so. Want to live there? Oh I know. I so want to live there and. All the flashbacks to apparently 1955. Oh, did you get? The where was that it was. It was somewhere. It was somewhere on there, 1955. They said something in 1955, which is when Jesse and Woody originally came out. Woody's Roundup. Woody's Roundup.

00:38:02And there was there was something in the memories there that said the year. And so the fact that all all the flashbacks to that got me really emotional and and then. You're going to cry. Spoiler spoiler, she finds. The lunch box at the tree and comes to find out that Emily, her original owner, named her daughter after Jesse. Yeah. It's kind of like how I married someone named after my cat. Same thing. I had a cat named. Timmy And so when I met you, I was like, that's it, That's it, Love. Yeah. No, that was that was good. That was good. I did like that.

00:38:53And like I said, like even though Jesse was never one of my favourites because. Like you think that you know Toy Story 2, Emily, we don't know. You don't know her name until this movie, but. Emily was just the same. That's what she says when she's sitting on the window sill. Oh yeah, yeah. You think she's just, She just groaned, grows out, you know, of playing with Jessie and just donates her because she's done with that. She's a teenager now. She's. But the fact that she still remembers her after all these years and, and names her, her daughter after her, Yeah. I wondered if they were going to make it like, like if it if when

00:39:36she was going to the house, I was like, is this going to be like Emily's granddaughter or, you know, something? But that they didn't connect it that way. But mine isn't as emotional. I just love Buzz and Woody fighting and like they're like, yeah, I just, Woody's my favorite. Woody is just my favorite. So anything with him, he. Wasn't. In it as that Like nearly as much as the other four Like and Buzz were. Definitely. Not in it as much supporting characters. And. Woody is just one of my favorite Disney characters. Definitely Pixar.

00:40:27Like I, I just, I love, you know? TikTok you can hear this song right now is is Andy and Woody's theme. But yeah, I I the the 4th one, there wasn't really a lesson no there. Wasn't do kaboom. Is funny, yeah. He's funny. I'm glad Bo and Woody are reunited. Don't like that Woody leaves the group. I remember there being funny Part I. This one, we don't watch that much, but like, I know there's funny parts with like Buzz is always funny, Yeah. Duck and duck and Bunny are really funny, yes. Yeah.

00:41:14We used to have. A duck and Bunny. We donated. Those we did, we got them at Disneyland. We have. Not donated, Woody? Nope, he's. Missing a hand? He's missing both. Hands now. Oh, both hands. I know where they are. They're like in this drawer and we have had two buzzes. Your original buzz. I have an original. Buzz from 1995. Oh, wait, no. Babe. Did we get rid of that one? We may have. He lost all of his limbs. That's.

00:41:43True, and he no. Longer has a head. Spoke. He lost his head. He lost his head. We bought. One of our boys wanted a buzz at Disneyland. We we got him a buzz. He is missing a foot and nothing really works on him. The wings don't work. We have you didn't have an original Woody. We got our oldest wanted Woody. He was about 18 months old at Disneyland and he took Woody everywhere until he was like 3 everywhere with him. He our oldest is the big went through the biggest Toy Story phase. They all went through a Toy Story phase, all the boys, but I

00:42:22think our oldest went through the biggest one to where like his room was decorated in Toy Story and but yeah, now now. But now our daughter, our daughter plays with with Woody because I had to search for his hat. Did we find? His hat? Yeah, we found his. Hat it's probably missing again, but but are we going with this? Your favorite scene from the movie? No. Just I love Woody. Woody and Buzz. Woody's always funny. Well, Buzz is always funny. Spanish Buzz. Great. Oh, Toy Story 4. There was no real lesson.

00:43:00Oh yeah. So I really, I really like the overall lesson. I like that they didn't hold back and they're like this is. A. This is an issue. Like even though it's like playful, it's like, oh, kids aren't playing with toys anymore. Oh no, But like it's an issue. It's an issue. And then but also, OK, let's find a balance. I really liked that. I really liked the I mean, part of me didn't like the balance. Part of me was like, no, let's get rid of all the screens. As I said here on social media, on my screen, I am probably part of the problem, but that's not realistic and not, you know, so

00:43:42I, I really liked that. But I as far as like a favorite part, I would need to like watch it again, like a favorite scene or a favorite, I would need to I need to watch it again. But. But yeah, overall. I think it's better than 4 for sure. Yes, yes, which and and OK, we have a comment. They're trying to tell parents to stop bringing tablets to Disneyland, which I will say that I have learned. That. Obviously then there's, there's different situations, you know, there's kids that may be on the spectrum and have a tablet and you know, there's, so there's those situations. And so when, when I see that at

00:44:24Disneyland or at the store or wherever, I personally wouldn't give one, I try to remember that because then there are times we do have kids with ADHD and there's issues, there's sensory issues and there's things. And there are times where we have done things that we said we weren't going to do, but we have a kid that we understand needs this for this reason in this specific time. So I do try to remember that, but at the same time, even more so that it's, it's hard to balance. And then then like trying to find balance because like 1, you know, one of our kids with ADHD, it's, it's, it's hard and it's like, OK, whatever comfort is in that tablet, but then it's like, it's really hard to then be

00:45:12like, not just let it go, you know, and use it as an excuse to, you know, well, he needs it to whatever it's like Speaking of. Disneyland. Here's one thing, now that I think of it I did not like about this movie is that they name drop Disneyland. Do you? Did you remember that? Yeah. Yeah, they said we went to Disneyland. Yeah. So why didn't you like that? I felt it. Was too like real world, like I felt like it was like too like this is happening like in this world I made it too real and less like in the Toy Story Pixar universe 'cause Pixar supposed

00:46:00to have like a universe like they're all toy. Barn. They didn't say Toys-R-Us. Yeah. And so I get why they said Disneyland, 'cause obviously Disney, but it was like, yeah, here's pictures of of Blaze at Disneyland and they're going through like memories of the other girl Blaze. Yeah, they showed. Her it like in front of the castle? Yeah, I was like. At first I was like, oh, that's cute. And now that I think I was like, I don't really like that. I just felt that like that. So but. It was. I didn't mind.

00:46:29That that didn't bug me, but but I get what you're saying. I get what you're saying. Yeah. But overall, yeah, I think it was great. I do think it was better than 4 as far as a 6th one goes. I see what they're saying is this is going to be like Bonnie's story, but if they don't bring some tie back to Andy at the end, No, Yeah, we need. A We need a reunion with Andy, Woody and Andy. Woody and Andy the Buzz all need to get reunited together. That will. Be that will be every. Everybody in our generation will be crying at that, that's for sure. 'Cause Andy is us.

00:47:17I mean, he's like the same age, Andy finds. Woody on Poshmark? Yeah, Andy would be about our age, probably, although no, because Toy Story 3, we were 24 and he's just going off to college. So he's supposed to. Be I think he's supposed to be younger in the first Toy Story than we were six. So that's still the timeline still doesn't fit because then he would have been three years younger than us. And when we saw Toy Story Three, I was 23, almost 24. So he would have been 21 going off to college. Probably not. He's probably supposed to be 18. So yeah, doesn't really work. So that's fine, though.

00:48:00But I mean they can. Fast forward the timeline so it like it matches up to like now, so no it it. That doesn't bother me, but. Yeah. Should we wrap this up? Yeah. I miss Andy. Yeah, we should. All right, because we have to go. Get our kids off their devices. I know. They're they're well, they're watching a movie. No, they're watching a. Movie that's different. Watching Avatar, They're watching. Avatar, Yeah. Which? One the first one the second one the.

00:48:37Second one, Third Avatar is coming to Disney Plus here pretty soon maybe. I'll watch any of them, I've only seen the first one once in the theater, but anyways. That's our that's our thoughts on Toy Story 5. We enjoyed it. It was, it was fun, it was good, it was funny. Yeah, yeah, I cry. If you like poop. Jokes. It's got poop jokes. Yep. If you like Star Wars references, it's got Star Wars references. Well, and that's one. Thing I love about the franchise too is that they tie in these jokes that us that were kids in the original one are going to

00:49:11like think are funnier, you know, just like Woody being old. It's like we're going to laugh at that more than, I mean, our kids are going to laugh at it, but it's going to be a different kind of funny for us, you know, like we relate to it, you know? And just like, I love that they're tying in those things and that it's just, it's just very sentimental. It's like it, and at this point, it's sentimental for some of our kids, too. It's like our oldest is almost 16 and has grown up with it and we grew up with it. And so, yeah, it's overall just a fantastic franchise in my opinion. It is. Toy Story is great. I love it.

00:50:56that's what it was, but I knew that was a old school. Disney movie. I'd never it was Bambi like. They used they used music from like it was a song and then just the instrumental was from Bambi. So that was cool. I loved that. I loved that. That was cool. But again, thank you all for listening.
