Park Scout is designed to help guests spend less time looking at their phone and more time enjoying their park day. We also believe the app should collect as little personal information as reasonably necessary to provide its features.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Park Scout collects or processes, how that information is used, when information may be shared with service providers, and the choices available to you.
Park Scout is operated by Timothy Sarquis ("Park Scout," "we," "us," or "our").
1. Information You Provide
Park Scout allows you to create an optional party profile to improve recommendations.
Depending on the information you choose to provide, a party profile may include:
- Optional first names or nicknames for members of your party
- Whether a party member is an adult or child
- Optional height information
- Attraction and entertainment preferences
- Preferred maximum wait time
- Walking pace and park movement preferences
- Preferences related to splitting your party
- Preferences for including shows and parades in recommendations
This information is stored locally on your device. Park Scout does not require you to create an account, and your party profile is not uploaded to a Park Scout account or user-profile database.
You may edit or remove this information within the app. Removing the app from your device will also remove locally stored Park Scout data, subject to Apple's normal device and backup behavior.
2. Favorites and App Preferences
Park Scout stores certain settings and preferences on your device, including features such as:
- Favorite attractions
- Party settings
- Park preferences
- App tour completion
- Alert settings
- Other app configuration and preferences
Some information related to Favorites and attraction alerts may also be sent to Park Scout's backend services when needed to provide notifications or Live Activities.
3. Location Information
With your permission, Park Scout may access your device's location while you are using the app.
Location is used for features such as:
- Showing nearby attractions
- Estimating walking distance
- Providing location-aware Park Pick recommendations
- Displaying your position on the Nearby map
- Requesting walking routes through Apple Maps
Park Scout does not use background location tracking.
Your device may provide precise or approximate location depending on your iOS privacy settings.
Park Scout does not maintain a history of your movements or use your location for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Location access can be changed at any time through iOS Settings.
4. Notifications and Attraction Alerts
If you choose to enable notifications, Park Scout uses Apple's Push Notification service, commonly known as APNs, to deliver features such as:
- Attraction wait-time alerts
- Temporary closure notifications
- Attraction reopening notifications
- Park Day Live Activity updates
To provide these features, Park Scout's backend may receive and temporarily retain:
- A pseudonymous Apple push notification device identifier
- Attractions for which you have enabled alerts
- Alert thresholds
- Favorite attraction identifiers used for Park Day Live Activities
- Information necessary to determine whether an alert or Live Activity update should be sent
This information is used only to provide Park Scout functionality.
Park Scout does not use notification identifiers to identify you personally, advertise to you, or track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Invalid push notification identifiers are removed when they are identified as no longer valid.
Wait-time alerts are designed to expire automatically after the applicable park day unless you create another alert.
You can disable notifications at any time through Park Scout or your iOS notification settings.
5. Live Activities and Dynamic Island
If you choose to start a Park Day Live Activity, Park Scout may send information necessary to update attraction information displayed on your Lock Screen or Dynamic Island.
This may include:
- Favorite attraction identifiers
- Current attraction wait times
- Attraction operating status
- Update timestamps
Park Scout uses Apple's ActivityKit and push notification systems to provide this functionality.
Live Activity push identifiers are separate from normal notification identifiers and may be temporarily retained by Park Scout's backend while the Live Activity is active or until the identifier is determined to no longer be valid.
6. Purchases and Subscriptions
Purchases and subscriptions for Park Scout are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your credit card number, payment method, or other financial account information.
To verify your subscription status and determine access to paid features, Park Scout may send limited purchase and subscription information to our backend services hosted by Railway. This information may include details such as the product purchased, subscription status, transaction or purchase identifiers, and information necessary to verify your entitlement.
This information is used only to verify purchases, maintain access to paid features, prevent fraud or misuse, and support subscription functionality.
Apple's handling of purchases is governed by Apple's own privacy policy and App Store terms.
7. Information From ThemeParks.wiki
Park Scout uses ThemeParks.wiki to obtain information about supported theme parks, which may include:
- Attraction names
- Attraction operating status
- Posted standby wait times
- Park operating hours
- Entertainment schedules
- Other publicly available park information
This information is park information and is not information about you.
Park Scout does not provide your party profile to ThemeParks.wiki.
8. Apple Services
Park Scout uses Apple technologies and services to provide certain features. These may include:
- Apple Maps
- Core Location
- Apple Push Notification service
- ActivityKit and Live Activities
- StoreKit and the App Store
- SwiftData and other iOS storage technologies
Your use of these services may also be subject to Apple's privacy policy and terms.
9. Backend Hosting and Service Providers
Park Scout uses third-party infrastructure providers to operate certain backend functionality.
Park Scout currently uses Railway to host backend services used for features such as attraction monitoring, notifications, Live Activity updates, and purchase and subscription verification.
Service providers may process information on our behalf only as necessary to provide the services used by Park Scout.
We do not sell your personal information to these providers.
10. Tracking and Advertising
Park Scout does not use your information to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Park Scout does not sell personal information.
Park Scout does not use the Apple advertising identifier for cross-app advertising or tracking.
Park Scout does not currently use third-party behavioral advertising systems.
11. Analytics
Park Scout does not currently use a third-party analytics SDK to build advertising profiles or track users across apps or websites.
If analytics technologies are added in the future, this Privacy Policy and the privacy information provided through the App Store will be updated as appropriate before those practices are introduced.
12. Data Retention
We attempt to retain information only for as long as necessary to provide Park Scout's functionality.
Party information and most app preferences are stored locally on your device until you change them, remove them, reset the app's data, or delete the app.
Server-side notification and Live Activity information is retained only as necessary to operate those features and maintain their technical reliability.
Invalid notification identifiers may be automatically removed when Apple reports that they are no longer valid.
Some temporary operational information, such as attraction monitoring state, alert baselines, or daily attraction status information, may be retained as needed to operate the service and prevent incorrect or duplicate notifications.
13. Children's Privacy
Park Scout is intended to be used by individuals responsible for planning their own theme park visit or the visit of their party.
An adult using Park Scout may choose to enter limited information about children in their party, such as an optional nickname, height, and attraction preferences.
This party information is stored locally on the user's device and is used to provide attraction eligibility and recommendation features.
Park Scout does not create accounts for children and does not knowingly use children's information for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking.
Parents or guardians can edit or remove a child's information at any time through the party settings in Park Scout.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information processed by Park Scout.
Communication between the app and Park Scout backend services is transmitted using encrypted network connections where supported.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

16. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights relating to your personal information.
These may include the right to request information about personal data we maintain, request correction or deletion, or object to certain uses of personal information.
Because Park Scout does not require user accounts and collects limited server-side information, we may not always have enough information to associate backend data with a particular individual.

Park Scout may include links or functionality provided by third parties.
This Privacy Policy applies only to Park Scout. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites, services, or applications.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those services when appropriate.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
