00:00:04Welcome to this happy place. Welcome. Hey guys, it's Tim and welcome to episode 114 of the Dreaming of Disney podcast. We would probably be at 300 by now. But you know, I, I, I don't know with my beautiful life. Audrey there she. Is it's been over 2 years so. Yeah, yeah, it was this weekend. So you're like, oh wait, we have a podcast. I was Oh yeah. Because I, I, I mean, I'll get into what made me want yes, but when I was watching what made me want to record, I was like, because I was like, Oh, we should talk about this on the Oh that's right podcast. I seriously, I was like, wait, when was the last time we did
00:01:10that? Like I didn't. It's been like a month. Because we did the AI last. The last one was the AI and. Then I got really sick. Yes, that's true. That's true. You were sick for like a week and a half, almost like or so. So kids were sick before that, and then you were sick. Yeah, that's right. And then we had busy weekends and. Yeah. So it wasn't for a friend of mine, but now we have a Disney trip on the books. Oh my, I am so excited. Disneyland trip in the books. It's been over a year. For the with the family. With the family we've.
00:01:45Gone individually. That's actually not true with the whole family. Yes, actually, you're right. Because it's been just a year. Because the last time we were there with all four of our kids was on our anniversary, which was just a few weeks ago. And then we had just the boys there in July with our nephew for Jack's like 8th grade graduation trip. We didn't take Georgia. So the last time we were there all together as a family, yes, was May. We were there with the boys in July. I went solo in September. Then you went right after me just in for, like, dinner. And then you went a couple months ago.
00:02:24That's right. You popped in. We've been to Disney World, but it has been a long time for us anyway, that all six of us have been to Disneyland together. Georgia, it's been a year since she's been to Disneyland. But again, yeah, she went to Disney World. Like, the girl's not hurting or anything. Like don't get me wrong, she's they're all spoiled in this regard. I just, I just hope that with going in the middle of summer, chances of being sick low, that we just won't have the last like 5 trips that we've taken as a family. We've all been sick. I know, but I just thought, well, I really hope not too
00:03:08because we have, we're, we're going to Disneyland from another family event, a family event that we that there's lots and lots of people and we typically get sick after because we're around so many people. So not. Not necessarily. Not every time. We just have to be careful. Lots of hand sanitizer because yeah, we all were sick in Disney World. Then in April we all went to New York and two of the kids were sick. And then when we got home, everyone else got sick. So. Except you. Except me, I had a few days where I really didn't feel good and I was really, really tired,
00:03:49but I never got like I was, I was definitely was fighting it like I was like, OK, here it is. But then it kind of just stayed that way for a few days and then I I was OK. Why are you leaving me like? That because when someone has had four children, you don't ever get to say that. I. Know. But no, I'm very, very grateful that I didn't get what you have. I know it's horrible. But you by far had it the worst over in Michigan anyways. Anyways, so the point is we have been like really stinks to get sick in Disney World, really stinks to get sick in New York and Boston was sick both times and both of those trips missed out on things and was like, I
00:04:40get sick every time we go somewhere. So I just, I really hope that he doesn't get sick. I didn't think about. Now I have that in my. Head Oh shoot, I shouldn't have said anything because you are paranoid. I am. I am. But anyways, we are going, we are very, very excited. And I, I got so excited because I opened YouTube to look at something else and I saw Magic Journeys. If you don't subscribe to them, you should. They're very detailed. They typically do food and review food, but they'll like cover other things too. I met them once when I was there
00:05:31a couple years ago when my sister and I just went and I saw them and it was the first, it was the closest to like a famous person I'd ever seen. I mean, they have like, I don't think they have a million subscribers, but like they. Got a pretty big following. I I think I looked, I want to say it was over 700,000 like close to 1,000,000. And that was a couple years ago, so. Oh, when I saw it, when I saw them, yeah. But so we met them, we took a picture with them. They were so, so nice. But anyways, they had posted a video about the 70th celebration and all of the the food. So they tried all, you know, a bunch of different food.
00:06:12They did some of the, the events. So we'll, we'll get into it, but like it just Oh my gosh, I, I mean, and this video was, I want to say it was like 40 minutes and I was just like in it and I was like. I know I was sitting next to I was, I was with Georgia and I kept hearing you over. You're like, Oh my gosh. Oh my. Gosh, I was so excited and I was like at the end I was like clapping. Like I, I was, I'm so excited. So then I was like, we just need to talk about the 70th stuff and like what we're excited about and obviously we'll do a recap when we go, but it just, they just know how to do a celebration, man.
00:06:56They and it's just like I'm so excited to go and it's just, it's really cool because we've talked about it a lot, but like we went for the 60th. Yep. And we loved it and I was there for the 50th. So like one that makes me feel 20 years. Ago. Super old, like I'm like what? No, I wasn't a kid either. I mean I was, I was 19. So there you go. Now you know how old I am, but and it and at that time, you know, 2000 five, like there wasn't social media. I don't even think we knew. I don't even we realized that there was a celebration going on. It was just I hadn't been in a
00:07:46while and I wanted to take my mom because she hadn't been since I was a little girl, since I was like 4 and she grew up going to Disneyland, love Disneyland. I've covered all that. And so two of my siblings, my mom and I went and we didn't even realize like there was a celebration until we got there because there wasn't, you know, it's just you're more informed now. It's easier to get information. I'm sure if you followed certain if you were part of like AAA and got. Well, I mean, they sell, they have the website and stuff. So if you're researching about stuff, but. But I didn't even because I did everything back then.
00:08:22Like I was the one who did everything and that was when I like bought. I went through my mom's AAA to book a hotel. At the hotel, we bought the tickets because you didn't have to reserve anything. I made sure at the hotel that you could buy the tickets. But that's what we did. Like when we checked in the hotel we bought like a 2 day park hopper but. Which was probably like 50 bucks. It was under 100. Yeah, it was definitely under 100 because I remember I was worried I wasn't going to have enough money to go and I was house sitting for family friends and they paid me really well and I was able to go.
00:09:07You know how much they paid me at the time? It was really, well, 300. Dollars three. $100 and it was like whoa. And it covered my Disney trip. I mean, I was splitting like I think my mom probably paid for the hotel, but like I needed to buy my ticket and my food and you know, all that stuff. I think my mom probably covered the hotel for us. But but yeah, it's like when we got there and realized and we all got gold ears and all of that, but it's just like, it's just cool that like I, I've been there for decades now. So anyways, I'm like, OK, even though, Oh, so that's another thing is then, because I haven't been on our Disney Instagram much.
00:09:52You do most of it and I just haven't been on it. So I, I was looking at it. And so I've also been totally out of it with like the Disney friends we've made that have shops, the Disney creator friends we've made like Elisa with Bashley ever after coat. So she has 70th celebration bracelets. And I'm like, Oh gosh, yes, I ordered that. And then Haley with moms with magic crowns and she had a 70th crown and she it was only special. It was a limited supply or a limited release. So she was wearing. It. Well, they sold out. So she was, I was watching her story.
00:10:28She went the, I think she went the first day of the celebration and she was wearing her crown. So she was talking about what she was wearing. I was like, oh man. So I messaged her and I was like, hey, any chance you're going to be restocking the 70th crowns? And then I saw that on her website. I was like, oh, it was just a limited release. And then she messaged me and she was like I'm restocking them. And then she put in a story like so that she would do like a pre-order. So I was like OK well now I got to get that. So I have that coming. But even though I have Haley's crown, I will need to get.
00:11:04Some 70th. Some 70th years because I have the 50th years. I also have my mom, and that's when we got our names, like embroidered on the hats for the 50th. I also have my mom's because she's passed away. So I have her ears. I have ones from the 60th. So I'm like, OK, I should you know? Yeah. Here comes. Here comes Jack. Hey Jack, what's a good word? Are you excited about our Disneyland trip this summer? Yes. Good. Now go to bed. All right, He's in bed. Oh, he slams the door now.
00:11:44He's you better have lost his G. Wake up the kid, kids. What? Anyways, where were we? Disneyland. I think we're, I think we're talking Disneyland. Yeah, we might be. OK, so should we talk about some of the things they have? Yeah, So Disneyland 70th, you know, at first when they first announced, I was like, oh, this seems kind of they didn't seem like they were doing much. I was like, it's not like where the IT wasn't, you know, bring about wondrous journeys, bring about paint tonight, which was which was so excited. But there there's there's not. Well, there is a new show at Small World, a new production show.
00:12:28I'm like, oh. Sure. Went to Craig. I'm so excited. But other than that, there was. There's not new fireworks, which is weird. Yeah. There's new one for the 50th, there's a new one for the 60th, there's new one for the 100th. Maybe it's because they just did wonder stories for the 100th only. And it was. Very popular everyone loved it, which I'm like again, you guys, did you see Disneyland forever Also? I feel like wish it not yes wishes that's for 50th wishes, which is different in Disney World than in Disneyland, but it came out for the 50th Julie
00:13:03Julie Andrews amazing, but they play. They had that fireworks show for. A long time. Years, I want to say almost a decade. I could very much be wrong about that, but like a long time, a very long time. It's amazing. But it was like getting kind of like OK, and then Disneyland Forever, which they only did for the 60th. They did bring it back a few summers after that or after COVID. They brought it back after COVID because I remember Georgia was a baby. I think it was our first trip after they reopened. It's so good.
00:13:42Disneyland forever. If you haven't watched it, look it up on YouTube. It's so good. There's a really good like multi angle Yes YouTube high quality. It'll probably be the first one that comes up when you search it. It's really good. It's so good, so wondrous Journeys. I, I did grow to really like it, but it's just not the same as those two. So it's kind of weird. But then they're doing things like the key, yeah, the Disneyland key or the key to Disneyland. I'm not sure what it's. Called kind of like that seems kind of lame, but then when I watched about it, it's like oh
00:14:16wait, this is actually really cool. This is cool. So it's this big key has AD on it, the Disney D the end, the little key part like the grooves looks like the castle and they have 79. 9/9. Nine different like kiosks around the park that you put the key in and it like lights up and some of them are, you know, do they do different things? And then you'll get a little lit up icon on the key. And when you unlock all nine, then a little secret compartment opens on your key and you get a special pin. Yeah. And I believe there's four different pins. One of them has Space Mountain. Yeah, I know.
00:15:01I saw that. So really cool. And then they also have these different places around the park where if you have a magic band, you scan your magic band and you'll get like these little tickets that kind of look like the original ride. Tickets, well, they're they're for the those magic band kiosk things. They're at the opening day rides. Oh, that's cool. So at the opening day rides that are still there today, they have these kiosks where you get, you get those, you get those special tickets. OK, now I have to buy because we have. There's a couple from my scene. There's a couple of them that
00:15:42aren't working yet, hopefully. By July, yeah, we do not have magic band plus for Disneyland. We in Disney World, you and I use our watches. We got magic bands for the kids the first trip we went, but then whatever reasons we didn't use them the second time they had passed things. But we didn't have Magic Bands for Disneyland, though we never bought Disney. No. We never bought magic bands, but I told you. You may be getting one. I I might be getting one because when I was watching Magic Journeys, like they're really cool. Yeah, like. But the the the magic bands or the tickets?
00:16:25The tickets that come out. Like I'm curious to see if they work for for your phone. With your pass, I mean the magic journey, they have to be annual pass. I mean they go all the time. They have to be annual pass holders. They're annual pass holders. So I don't know, but I, I don't have a magic band plus, but I oh, it also this sold me. It lights up with paint the night. I think it does for. It does for the fireworks too. I'm done. I'm done you guys, I'm done. I'm going more broke than I already am because I need the key. I have to get the. Key keys are like I think you
00:17:01are 60 bucks. Gosh, we don't need to tell people what they are. We don't need to tell people what we're going to spend. And then a magic band. Plus, yeah, I got. You well, I thought it was funny and I messaged you and I posted this on Instagram was on the on this first day of the 70th. I checked. I was at work and actually, no, I was working from home because I was still sick and I was looking at wait time. So I was like, see, you know how crowded it is because I saw posts about people say how crowded it was. And so I was like, I'm just curious to see how long the wait lines are in like Space Mountain was like 20 minutes.
00:17:39Mickey and Minnie's was like 30 minutes. Rise was like 45. And this was like at 2:30 in the afternoon, like peak time. And so I'm like, what the heck is going on? And then from few people messaged me, Bethany moms with magic plants. She messaged like, yeah. And you know, we were there and like, it was crazy, but it was so many crowds, but everybody was waiting in line to do the magic keys and getting the tickets. Well that's why I saw a magic journeys post. I don't know if they were there the first day, they may have said or not. I didn't catch it, but there, there was definitely it.
00:18:21If it wasn't the first day of the 70th, it was early on because they weren't able to get a key at first. They were sold out, but then they found one. But there were lines. Yeah. Like I was like, what are they waiting in line for? And it was the magic bands. It's one thing Dizzy knows how to do well is to make lines. But like, I was like, oh, when I was watching their video, I was like, Oh yeah, I see why the wait times were low because I'm already like, OK, got to do the keys. We got to do the magic bands. We need to get a good spot for Paint the Night, a good spot that's for Paint the Night and the fireworks because we won't
00:19:01be able to move. And then then there's the small World, like the projection show on Small World, which I absolutely have to see. Then in when we go to California, there's a lot of color. I'm like, yeah, I'm not going to ride any rides. I'm going to be parked waiting on these things while you guys go ride rides like I, I am. I am so excited when they, they were showing paint the night and I was starting to get emotional. I think it's because when we when during the 60th, I was pregnant with Boston. Well, first I wasn't, it went for a long time. It felt like it went for a long time. I don't think I was pregnant the
00:19:41first trip, then I was pregnant, then he was a newborn or an infant. His first trip he was 10 weeks old, I think, and it was the last. They were finishing up all the 60th stuff. Because I remember I was so sad because the hotel we stayed at, which we've talked about in a long ago podcast, we don't recommend this hotel. I know other people who really like it, but we weren't crazy about the Majestic. Oh, the Majestic Inn. They do have a shuttle, but. I don't think it. Is it still? Yeah, no, it's so-called an. That's right. But OK, so we had a 5 year old, a three-year old and a ten week
00:20:27old. And it's right behind. Toontown. It's right behind Toontown. One of the nights we're like, OK, well at the time our three-year old hated fireworks because of the noise. He would freak out. So you know, I have a ten week old I'm still up all night right. So it was like, OK, let's just go back we don't need to see the fireworks and it's right behind Toontown. And so it the walls shook. They even asked you if you have a car alarm because. Your car alarm will get. Set off so but our our California day. It was World of color for the 60th, which was so good.
00:21:08It was. So. Good made me cry, but I knew that by the time we got out and then on the shuttle and back to the room, I wouldn't with his at the time with our youngest boys nursing schedule. I was like I won't sleep because I'm going to nurse him right now. He's going to sleep and then he's going to be up to nurse and then like I'm not going to sleep. So we didn't do it and and I was so I remember being so torn. I remember sitting at is it Pizza Plaza Plaza Pizza, where we always eat pasta and pizza. What is it called? Oh, the paradise. What is it? It's not, it's not paradise,
00:21:53girl. That's the place. To make it was right next to it. I remember sitting there and just agonizing over this decision because I wanted to see it so bad. But I was like, I know that tomorrow will be horrible because I won't be able to sleep. I will like I will miss my little window of sleep between him waking up and needing to eat. Where was I going with this long story? Oh, so we went OK when when I wasn't pregnant, when it just reminds me of the boys being little and paint the night back to paint the night. I'm sorry. That was a long.
00:22:33ADHD tangent. It reminds me of the boys being little and like they'd always fall asleep. Well, there's that video of Noah, Noah and also Jack. They were dancing in the middle of the street because it where it started. No, no. No, that wasn't paint the night. Oh, was it the the video of them dancing in the street you're thinking of? We're in California. We're waiting for the Pixar parade. Well, there was a time when Paint Tonight was in California Adventure. They moved it. What? I think you're. Right.
00:23:07I think it was all right. Well, I'll I'll I'll ChatGPT later. I think we learned from our last podcast episode that they are wrong. No, it was the Pixar parade because it was the one with Woody and the guys swinging. It was it was the Pixar parade, but there's a video of wait, it was freezing. It was February. This was the one when I was pregnant and Noah's like saying hi, Mickey and we're like dancing to the song so it and they'd always fall asleep and we'd try to wake them up and and they would sleep through it. We'd be like, come on. I remember dancing with Boston for it. Tiny.
00:24:01Well, he wasn't tiny. He was massive, but he was still a baby. But he was he was the only one awake. He was 10 weeks old. And the other two were asleep in the stroller. Yeah. So it just like reminds me of that time. That's also when our my sister used to come with us, like every time. Was that the last time that paint tonight was there? I don't know, because I also remember a time where you and I, when we went for our anniversary in 2019, I feel like. It was there. We were in line from Matterhorn and I remember dancing to the song.
00:24:38Oh yeah, no, I, I. Vaguely I feel I I could be wrong. I could be mixing that up with another trip, but I remember dancing to the song so I don't know. But it's our favorite parade and I'm so excited. I'm just hoping we can keep, I mean, we'll keep the big the boys up and Georgia actually usually stays awake. So I think because I think she'll love it. I didn't show her because we were watching rides ride throughs on YouTube the other day and they have paint the night and I wouldn't let them watch it because I was like no I want to watch this in person with you guys like And then she asked me after we go, can I
00:25:21watch it on the TV And I said yes after we go. They have. A Frozen, they have a Frozen float and it's all lit up and beautiful and she loves Frozen right now, always she's out. But like we listen to Frozen or Elsa too, if you will, all love the time. So yes, I'm just, I'm so excited. I'm so excited. Going back to the the Magic Key, which is confusing because you the annual pass to Disneyland is called the Magic. Key. Is it called the magic key? Yeah. OK. And then the key, the key to Disneyland, maybe it's called the key.
00:26:02To Disney, maybe it's called the Key to Disney. But I believe people are also calling it the Magic Key anyways. You know, like you said, there's one of four commemorative pins. You don't know which pin you're going to get until you go through all the stations. But the, the the pin shop in Tomorrowland, the one that's behind Galactic Grill that you're going around the pack side before you get to Pizza Planet or the Launch Bay is so there's that little shop that's in the middle building right there. Yeah, they you can trade your pin for another pin. Key to Disneyland. Key to Disneyland. Key to Disneyland is what?
00:26:47It's called so you can trade. So if you want, if you're hoping for a specific commemorative pin from that key, you can trade it for the one that you want if they have it because you know, like the different shops they have, like the where you can trade. You can still do some pin trading, yeah. They have something similar like that. So that's cool. I, yeah, I don't have much else. Oh, the food, the food. There's a lot of yummy looking desserts. There's the the black half slushy. Yes. Which you want to try. I do want to try, but that's not for the 70th right?
00:27:27That's just new. It's new, I came out around the same time. But what I want to try more is the new beignet cold brew, which is at Tiana's. Again, I don't believe this is 70th. This is just a new item at Tiana's. But I hear it is like giving cold black calf, I mean a run for its money. So I'm definitely trying that. I hear though, and we'll see if this is the same. You can't order it until 10:30 just like just like black calf because the the real I was watching. Oh, and I can't remember her name. Magic Millennial. Yes, magic millennial.
00:28:04She was like, we still don't have a good coffee before or at 8:00 AM Yeah. So I don't know why for a. Little bit the docking Bay seven opened for breakfast for that and then I think they stopped doing that. But yeah, it's it's weird that they don't have that first thing in the morning. She's local so she goes all the time. And one of the time one of her reels I saw she went and Docking Bay 7 was closed and I was like, I'm like, oh, she goes all the time. I'm like, I would be like trip over. But yeah, like Red Rose Tavern has like the Grace or the 70th stuff I think it was called, or celebration stuff.
00:28:47Keeping track of all the foods. I did this was all on magic journeys because they they mainly try foods. The Jolly Holiday has a special like macaron that looks really good. They had something at Bangle barbecues ribs they said was really good. There's a Red Rose Tavern like a tuna melt with like a tomato. Let's hear great things about Bangle BBQ. And we've never, we've never eaten there. I know because we've seen that you get those, the shish kebab there and then get the yes at Maurice, Maurice's Treats or no, it's not at Maurice's Treats anymore, it's at Adel. Adel, Ice. Adel Ice.
00:29:31Yeah. And put it inside of that. Yeah, you get that because we've gotten the cheesy bread a couple Times Now. The kids all love it. It's so good. Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. We're it's going to be too short of a trip because we're going to be there. I know Monday through Wednesday. We. Know. Three days. We're getting there. We'll get there Monday morning. Staying at the Disneyland Hotel. Yeah. Wanted to try Pixar Pier, but we have our Pixar place. I cannot get these names right. Pixar Place, but we couldn't get that because we haven't stayed
00:30:06there yet. Or you and I stayed there in the middle of the construction. Yeah, but it was still. We stayed there, our Splash Mount last day, a Splash mountain. Trip. That's right. But it wasn't completed, no, And I think we walked through it. They had they had somewhat finished the lobby, the rooms weren't completed yet. So oh so are you done Disneyland 70 and stuff I. Don't know and. There's something else you want to talk. About, I don't know, I didn't really have anything in mind, I just was going to ramble. This is probably old news but they finally finished all the
00:30:50upgrades to the entry gates to Disneyland. So they have the new the new kiosk or the new gates. So you scan your thing that it automatically takes a picture that you walk in. They are closing the Paradise pier entrance I think through middle of June. Oh. The one that's if you're staying at Pixar Place. Yes, the Pixar Place. OK, even though you can say any Disney hotel and you can use it, it's just closest to Paradise Beer. Are you sure? Pixar Place? I'm positive we've done it. We've stayed at. OK, OK. But remember when I went by
00:31:33myself? Yeah, it said Pixar Place guests. It's always said. That and I just got in because someone opened the. Door it always, it's always said that. I was staying at Disneyland Hotel. I was so. Because there's two gates. There's one that says Grand Californian and then one that says Fix our place or Paradise Pier. When we were there, it's when we were there, did your car? We were saying Disneyland, Disneyland Hotel. And my card worked. And your our card worked. I tested it out. So it's just they say they say
00:32:16Pixar place because it's the closest one, you know, the closest hotel to the entrance. OK, but if if it was only for, yeah, your card wouldn't work. Your card wouldn't work or they would have like someone there like checking, checking, yeah. But it's closed, I think through the middle of June because they're putting in the new, the new gates. Well, see, I'm curious to. See. It's also not open all day anymore. Right, you can exit. I think you can exit maybe? I'll have to ask. I have a friend went in April and she stayed at Pixar place. I'll have to ask her if they tried to exit. Yeah, 'cause they just.
00:32:59There wasn't that many people using it, right? So the. Security guards are like, dude, well, there were so many times where we would walk up in the afternoon and they'd be like, oh, oh, like, you know, they'd be like, just like, yeah, sitting, talking. Guards off guard. Nice one. Thank you. But yeah, so it's like they don't need to be there. They're probably pretty bored, but excuse me. So. I'm curious to see how I feel about this new entrance as opposed to Disney World because I really like the ease and quickness of getting in at Disney World.
00:33:39It's amazing. And like our kids just scan in on their own and like it goes so fast. Security. We had issues that last trip. I don't know if we talked about that in our recap because our our recap probably wasn't that good, which is a bummer just because less than a week after that trip we moved. And so I don't think our recap was as good as it could have been. There was so much to that trip and it was really good, even though the sickness and stuff. But anyways, not the point. Point is. What's that to do another trip so we can? Do let's just go Yeah oh security like would Ding us for
00:34:24things like our Altoid tins and. Then yeah. Because cause at Disney World they have like the metal detector everyone just walks through. It is the X-ray scanner. Yeah, and but if you have a stroller, you go in a different line and well, that's not the point. But if you have a stroller, you're going a different line. But if you get dinged then the line you have to wait in for them to search your bags because at Disneyland they search everybody's bags. That is not the case in Disney World. They only search your bag if you're dinged. But Altoid cases would Ding us. So what you would need to do is
00:35:05take it out of your bag, hold it out in front of you while you walk through the scanner. Or one time I wasn't holding it out enough. I was holding it. But Georgia was also kind of fighting me, walking through with me, 'cause she, like, didn't. Want to let go? Yeah. And so I didn't have it out in front of me enough, so I still got dinged. That line is slow they because they don't check as many bags. I think they go very slowly and we're like. Disney. There's only there's not as many and because at Disneyland they check everyone's bags, so you'll get ones that are more thorough
00:35:42than others, but like they're pretty quick about it. At Disney World, every single one I got because I got dinged at least once a day. Like we, we went in and out a couple times each day and I got dinged I think at least once a day or you did, one of us did. And it that line would take forever. So if you get dinged, they will tell you like, because they don't want you coming, you know, they don't want that line to search your bags to get backed up. So they will tell you be like, hey, like it was probably this. Hold this out in front of you. So if you find out what it is, hold it out in front of you because it can be really fast unless that happens to you.
00:36:23So to to end this out I wanted to play a little scenario are. You doing ChatGPT? No no I'm not doing that. So I have a Co worker and he asked me this question and I walked him through it but I thought it'd be fun to to discuss it. Oh OK, you have not told me about. This there's reason why hold on for the podcast. So as Co worker, he's based in New York, he's taking his family to Disney World for the first time. They have two young kids or just one anyways, kids under 5 is actually no, he just has one kid, just one kid. I think he just turned one or two. So first time taking kids to
00:37:19Disney World. OK, a kid. A kid OK and and so so he he asked me he's like, you know you know how people ask you find out that you do you have any tips about Disney Disneyland, Disney World. You're like, you're like, OK, yes, but tell me a little bit about. Yeah, like we I need, I need more details A. Little bit more details like where you going, where you staying, you know how long you stay. So so I said that I was like, oh, that's awesome. You know how long? First thing I asked. How long are you staying? 4 nights. Oh.
00:37:57OK, so that's short for Disney? World for Disney World, Yeah. I'd say, OK, and so where where you think where you think it'll sing. And he was thinking about doing a split stay. So two nights at Contemporary, 2 nights at Boardwalk. Oh, both deluxe. Yeah. And I was like OK, OK and but anyways. OK, all right. I could see because contemporary you can walk to Magic Kingdom Boardwalk, you can walk to Epcot and get on the Skylander to go to Hollywood. OK, OK. So anyway, I don't want to give what I said, I want to like see what you think. Oh my gosh.
00:38:33OK. What was the question? So the that was pretty much like what? What would he was asking? What would I suggest staying 4 nights? OK. So what that would actually be? What if you get kind of travel? Day. Is he only doing 3 park days? How many park days? He didn't say. I would assume 3 or 4. OK. We didn't get much past the where to stay and how many nights I mean. Because I would want to know more than how many nights you need to ask how many park days. Yeah, so. You just messed everything.
00:39:13I I just messed everything up but assuming four nights so. OK. He would if it was four nights, say we he flew in on Monday. I'm. I'm guessing he. Would park days. Yeah, and then he would fly out on a Friday. That's four nights. Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday, Thursday night. Fly back home Friday. But if you get in Monday night you're probably not doing a park, so I'm guessing it's 3 park days. Yeah. So Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Would be parks. So he was asking you like, you know, what would you do, you know, four nights split stay.
00:39:55Would that, is that something that you would do? He was worried that it was going to be too much. Doing a split stay for the kids. All right, OK, again, kids or kid, because this makes a big difference. I can't remember if he has one or two. Because it it just makes a difference on the chaos and how tired you're going to be. Chasing two kids is much more tiring than chasing one. Depending on the kid, of course. I'm going to say just one. I think he just has one. OK, and if he's if the kid is like 1, my gut is that chain in only four nights. A split stay is too much as a mom packing up stuff, all the baby stuff.
00:40:41Do they have a bassinet? Are they using the bassinet at the hotel that deluxe have? Well, I think even the other ones you. Also mentioned that his parents are coming. OK, so they have help. So they have help. There's so there's so many factors like are they go, go, go people? Are they rest people? Because I'm like, OK, just one kid. Depends on the kid. Jack as a baby could do rope drop two-part clothes that baby because he would sleep in his stroller like a dream. That baby, he was a happy chill baby. So we didn't take a break, we just went.
00:41:26Went. Through because he just we were younger and. We were 15 years younger. And he was just such a good baby. Then we had the rest of them. So I'm like you. Want to hear what I suggested? No, I want to go more. OK, I think a split stay would be a bit too much. I agreed. I think that which one would I choose? Probably beach club. Oh no, Boardwalk. I'm sorry I've never stayed at Boardwalk, but. No, it was Beach Club I. Thought you said Boardwalk. I mean, it was between contemporary and beach club. OK, Well, we've stayed at Beach
00:42:13Club. Yeah, have not stayed at contemporary. Contemporary would be cool. As far as you can walk to Magic Kingdom but beach club OK so contemporary you can walk to Magic Kingdom but that's it other. Than OK, go ahead. You can walk to Magic Kingdom. You're on the monorail, Yes. So you can get to Epcot on the monorail, but if you stay at Beach Club, you can walk to Epcot, you the Skylanders right there, which will take you to Hollywood Studios, which, OK, so I guess both parks you get to, Yeah, both parks, you get easy access to two parks. Both you have to take a bus to Animal Kingdom Beach Club. You have to take a bus to Magic
00:43:12Kingdom Contemporary. You'd have to take a bus to Epcot, no Hollywood. Or you could take the monorail to Epcot and then. Get on. The walk through the park and get on the sky liner to Hollywood, but that's a little complicated. I mean, I'm. Just really proud of myself that I know this. Oh, I. Know, I mean, it all comes down to, you know, their priorities. Like what what do they want to get the most out of it? I know he was. He hasn't seen Galaxy's Edge yet, and so he's a big Star Wars fan. So Hollywood. And so being close, he he
00:43:49mentioned that he was hoping to go to Hollywood Studios. Grandparents can watch the kid and he and his wife can go. Hollywood Studios, he can go and check out. Yeah, yeah, Beach Club because then you can just get on the sky liner and go to Hollywood Studios And if the baby, if the baby is about 1, like while it's fun with them, they're not going to remember. So I'm not saying don't take your one year old. I just said I took my 10 week old, but but like it's probably going to be more about them. So yeah, I'd say Beach Club and I wouldn't do a split stay with for only four nights, although we did A7 night and we did 2 or three, we did a three split. We did three different hotels
00:44:39this last time. That was kind of out of a necessity because we kept extending our trip. It wasn't the plan originally, Yeah, it just. But anyways, yeah, I I definitely, yeah. Beach Club stay there. I really like the beach club. And two, if they have grandparents that can watch the baby, then they can walk into Epcot like at night together. See, This is why we're married, because I suggested the exact same scenario as you did. 17 years, baby. And, and I also mentioned, you know, the, the pool should be the pool at beach club should be finished because they're refurbing it in it, they're refurbing.
00:45:26It. Refurbishing it and I believe it has this, this sand bottom pool. It's like one of the best pools on this world. It was just closed when we were there and it was hot when we were there too. So, so, yeah. So that's exact same thing that I mentioned to him. What he actually did though, they're saying it contemporary. So they didn't listen. Don't ask for our tips if. You're not going to Each club wasn't available for the dates that they were. Going so bummer. So they said, go with contemporary. Well, now we've never stayed there. You should ask how it is.
00:46:04I've from what I've people that I've heard is that contemporary seems a little overpriced for what it is because not most of the rooms aren't in the main tower. The tower that where the monitor. Goes through. Yeah, there's like the garden rooms which are kind of like more like a motel style and those aren't as nice location so. Grand Floridian all the way, man. Grand Floridian. That's amazing. You're going to do deluxe go. Oh no, I really like the Beach Club too. I would like to stay at Boardwalk, yeah. And I really my #1 next that I
00:46:47want to stay at is Riviera. Yeah. Well, when we go next year. What? We're not going next year. For 18th. No, we want to go on a cruise. Well, that's he didn't finish. He didn't let me finish. Oh, I'm sorry. So when we go on our cruise for next year, we're going to have a couple of days at Disney World. Stay at the Riviera. Stay at the Riviera. We're we're going all out 18. We'll see even number. We'll see. Yeah, I know we'll see. But anyways, I hope you enjoyed this episode of Randomness. I just was so excited and I just wanted to talk about it, which is why we started the podcast
00:47:31because we like talking about it. I keep telling these people all we need to have you on one. TJ and his wife Melissa. We've been trying to get them on for a while. Just things have been crazy. We should try before that baby comes. That's true. Bethany Mom's magic plans? They're going to Disneyland, to Paris. No way. Yeah, she announced that on a couple of days ago. She had a countdown on so it's first time going. Yes, I want to talk to her because I'm so curious to see. Because when you and I went seven years ago, oh, my goodness.
00:48:09I know it wasn't completely owned by Disney. Yeah, and we were not impressed. Except for the castle. The castle was beautiful. In Space Mountain. Oh, Space Mountain. I told her I I told her. Don't look up anything about space. Mountain I I, I told her and she's like, what? What was one of your favorite parts? And I was like, Space Mountain is one of the base best space mountains I've ever been on. And I was like, I'm not going to spoil it for you, but it's amazing. And she's like, I heard the same thing. I'm really scared because I have, I get bad motion sickness.
00:48:48Oh, and I was like, if you can do Cosmic Rewind, you can do this. I think so. And she's like OK good because I can only do cosmic rewind once during an entire trip so. OK. I think she could do it once. Yeah, Amazing, amazing. Just in case she listens, I'm not going to say yeah, but I'll I'll be because now Disney does completely own it. So there were things like a small world did not compare. No small world compares to Disneyland. But like we would see things like light bulbs were out and paint chipped and we didn't know like, are we just being picky or because this was before we ever went to Disney World?
00:49:29So this was only the ever this was the first time I had ever been to a different Disney park than Disneyland. So I'm like, am I just picking things out? And we were only there for half a day. Yes, it was very because we went to Paris to go to Paris, but I was like, I can't go to Paris and not go to Disneyland. Fun fact, it's actually 45 minutes outside of Paris. Yes, we took a train. Yeah, to take a train, but the train station ends. In Disney, Yeah, like right at Disneyland, Yeah. So I would love to go again, especially now that we've gone to Disney World. And the first trip was bad, but the next two were so good.
00:50:07Like, was it just that everything was new? We didn't speak the language like. And they refurbished their the Disneyland Hotel there, which is all now like super fancy. Yeah, but they redone it because it, like I said, Disney didn't own it completely when we were there and now they do. So I'm so curious to see because I had a my friend Mindy went and like she loved it. And this was just maybe, I have no idea, maybe a year or two ago. It was after Disneyland took, you know, blotted out completely, seemed to be in much better condition than when you and I were there. So when we were there, though, we were there during the 25th.
00:50:52That's another celebration that we've been to. So that is cool. We were there for the 25th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, which is pretty cool. But I remember merchandise being like, like, I didn't get anything. I got a little snow globe but like. There wasn't a lot of stuff that shit that was like. Disneyland Paris like. Paris, yeah. I remember because I had wanted to real quick. I know we need to end this, but real quick. I had wanted to go to Paris my entire life and it was a dream that I never thought would happen. So we go.
00:51:23I was so used to wanting to go to Paris and loving everything Paris that when we went over by the Ratatouille ride and it was like all Parisian, I was like, oh, I just want to spend more time here 'cause it's like, I can actually go to Paris. And I was like, oh wait, I'm in Paris. Like. I'm actually in Paris, but it was like so surreal that I was there, that I was like had thought I still had to pretend, but the Remy ride was down. Yeah, we didn't. We didn't get to ride it. We didn't ride it until. We had the world. What? 5. More years when we went to Disney World, Yeah, but.
00:52:01Anyways, yeah, I definitely want to talk to her. That's really cool. When I had like it was like last week she posted storage. She had like 114 days left. So a while. So a while, but. Couple months, Three months. But yeah. Cool, that's really cool. So yeah. But anyways, so hope to be back on this regularly. I wonder, I wonder if we should go back to a weekly podcast to make us more accountable. No, I don't think so. OK, then we go back to keep doing our biweekly. I don't know, we can just see where the wind takes us. Like Pocahontas? OK, so you can follow us on
